April 6, 2020 Letter: Sexual Violence Resources & COVID-19

Main content start

Updated April 6, 2020

To our community,

We are thinking of you as we collectively navigate this time of uncertainty with the rapidly changing circumstances of COVID-19. You may be experiencing many different emotions, and we hope that you continue taking care of yourselves and honoring your needs. We want to be sure you know that we are still here to provide support for anyone who is impacted by sexual harassment, sexual assault/misconduct, relationship abuse, stalking, and gender discrimination.

Due to the shelter in place order issued by Santa Clara County, which is effective from March 17, 2020 through May 3, 2020, Kingscote Gardens, the building that houses the SARA Office, Title IX Office, and the Confidential Support Team, is closed and our offices will no longer provide in-person support. However, our offices remain open to students via phone, video, and email, as detailed below.

Please see below for more details:

Office of Sexual Assault & Relationship Abuse Education & Response (SARA)
The SARA Office is dedicated to cultivating caring relationships, especially as we navigate creative ways for building a culture of consent in a digital reality.

Title IX Office
The Title IX Office is continuing its work to respond to, remedy, and prevent interpersonal violence and gender-based discrimination.

Confidential Support Team (CST)
In response to the COVID-19 outbreak and in an effort to prevent its spread, the Confidential Support Team will remain open during our normal business hours (Monday – Friday, 8:30-5pm). CST staff remain available to assist you virtually during this time.

  • Our 24/7 Hotline (650-725-9955) remains available for urgent support.
  • Contact our business line (650-736-6933) to schedule non-urgent phone or video support.
  • Virtual appointments, conducted through Zoom, are available for students located in California at the time of the telehealth visit.  Phone based support is available for students located outside of California.

We invite you to explore sexualviolencesupport.stanford.edu and relationshipviolencesupport.stanford.edu for additional resources that are open and available. Please note that access to such resources may be adjusted for remote accessibility.

As Stanford continues to monitor the status of COVID-19, you will find the latest Stanford information about COVID-19 and related Stanford resources at healthalerts.stanford.edu. We know that you are likely juggling competing priorities including your academics, your well-being, and your healing during this complicated time. Please know that we are here for you and will be in touch about any changes in our services. Please continue to take care of yourselves and each other.

With care and support,
Office of Sexual Assault & Relationship Abuse, Education and Response (SARA)
Title IX Office
