Violence Intervention & Prevention (VIP)

Join the VIP Program, a collaboration between the Office of Sexual Assault & Relationship Abuse Education & Response (SARA) and the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life.

Violence Intervention and Prevention (VIP) Program is an organization of representatives from the Stanford Greek Community who are committed to addressing the issues of sexual and relationship violence on our campus.

Fraternity and sorority representatives (aka VIP Chairs) engage with one another within a small cohort of VIP Chairs and gain the skills/training necessary to facilitate a wide range of educational programs for their respective chapter and for the Stanford Greek Community as a whole. This program was founded on the belief that Greeks can come together in their community to educate themselves on these topics and provide support to their chapter members.  This program is a best practice and national model and we welcome participation from every fraternity and sorority on campus.

The VIP Program is available to any member from any Greek organization on campus to join in Winter 2020. We are excited to announce that participation in the VIP Program is now available for course credit. VIP Chairs may receive up to two units by enrolling in ResProg9B: Violence Intervention and Prevention. The course will begin week 3 and consist of one mandatory 3-hour orientation session, and seven weekly class sessions occurring weeks 4-10. Attendance at the VIP Chair orientation on Tuesday January 21 from 4:30-7:30pm is mandatory.

How do you become a VIP Chair?

To become a VIP Chair, enroll in ResProg9B: Violence Intervention and Prevention for Winter 2020! This course is open to anyone who is a member of a Greek organization on campus.

For VIP Chairs who are elected and/or selected as part of their organizations' leadership structure: enroll in the course during the first quarter of your term to be affiliated to the VIP program.

What does your Chapter gain from having a VIP Chair?

  • A liaison to the Office of Sexual Assault and Relationship Abuse Education and Response Office and the Fraternity and Sorority Life Office

  • Relationships to fraternity and sorority leaders and chapters who are interested in preventing sexual and relationship violence
