Toolkits for Community Workshops

TOOLKITS FOR COMMUNITY WORKSHOPS: SUPPORTING YOU, SUPPORTING YOUR COMMUNITY

IMPLEMENTING SUSTAINED, COMMUNITY-LED WORKSHOPS

As part of a broader effort to equip student-run organizations with the tools they need to create healthier communities and a culture of consent on our campus, the SHARE Title IX Education Team is implementing a new community education toolkit program. 

The purpose of this toolkit program is to equip student-run organizations with the materials they need to facilitate productive workshops, conversations, and learning experiences in their communities. 

We hope to address a variety of issues surrounding sexual and relationship violence through this program, including:

  • Accessing resources on campus related to relationship and sexual violence
  • Building a culture of consent
  • Supporting survivors of sexual and relationship violence
  • Developing sexual citizenship
  • Identifying and responding to unhealthy and potentially abusive relationships
  • Promoting healthy, caring relationships
  • Preventing, identifying, and responding to incidents of stalking
  • Upstander training
  • Intersectionality
  • Digital Safety

In addition to these core topics, there will be additional materials provided on specifically tailored topics for organizations to use as they see fit. Some additional, focused materials may include education on healthy masculinity, safety planning for parties and events, and educational materials on supporting accused students. 

HOW IT WORKS

Each quarter, the SHARE Title IX Office will release two toolkits for student-run organizations to facilitate with their members throughout that quarter. Each toolkit will contain several materials: 

  • Educational goals. 
  • Precreated educational videos for members to watch together.
  • Guiding discussion questions for leaders to facilitate conversations with their community members. 
  • Action items for members to take at the individual, relationship, community, and societal levels. 

Participating communities are asked to host two workshops per quarter using these toolkits, and to meet with SHARE Staff as needed to discuss their implementation.
